C25 Graduation

The final program of the year, a program celebrating the CUT25 year and focusing on converting players over to CUT26

Graduation had a large focus on converting players from CUT25 to CUT26. To do this, players were given more Crossover content they could earn by interacting with the program.

The biggest part of the program was the scavenger hunt, something not seen in CUT yet. In it, letter items would be hidden around CUT25 in existing content from the entire year (basically prompting players to go “walk around campus” one last time) or be placed in new hidden spots (such as a new quest, a new challenge, a pack hidden in the back of the store, etc). This was the most ambitious content piece I had worked on to date. Some examples include a Wild Goose Chase (in which players needed to collect Goose Tokens from various different pieces of the game in order to chase them off), a shipwrecked sailor (in which you’d be given a Captain CUT card that you would need to have in your lineup to complete an objective), a tie-in with social media containing a coded message, and even a hidden Scavenger Hunt hint located in the margins of some card’s art. By completing the Scavenger Hunt, the player would spell out “JOIN US IN CUT26!” and earn a CUT26 Care Package containing currency, a player, and more that would carry over into CUT26.

Players could relive CUT and its year in Challenges in a year in review, and there were also player card drops, Sets, Events, and more to participate in towards the game’s end.
